01 / The problem

What had to change

A vehicle browser needs a clear weather picture that follows its location without overwhelming the display or depending on a Tesla account integration.

02 / The constraints

What the system had to respect

  • Radar rendering and playback must work within the in-car browser's limits.
  • Unavailable location needs an explicit error and a clearly labeled fallback.
  • The map must stay legible while location and radar data change.

03 / The build

What I made

  • A map that follows the browser's location and combines RainViewer radar with an OpenStreetMap basemap.
  • Track-based heading, follow controls, and a latest-frame view with optional radar playback.
  • Local browser preferences and labeled demo locations when a live fix is unavailable.

04 / The result

The useful change

The tool keeps nearby weather visible in one compact map, with clear location state and controls suited to the vehicle browser.
